Principal Invesigator

Alaa Abousaif, MD

Alaa Abousaif, MD is a Board Certified Internist and Gastroenterologist, as well as a Board Certified Obesity Medicine physician, who has been in private practice for nearly two decades. In that time, he has developed an outstanding reputation not only as a gastroenterologist but also as a caring and compassionate human being.

He has been PI for various gastrointestinal clinical trials with indications for colorectal cancer screening, NASH, Liver Cirrhosis, IBD, GERD, Ulcerative Colitis.

Clinical Research Coordinator

Ammara Choudry, CRC

Ammara Choudry is a clinical research coordinator that has worked in gastroenterology and hepatology related studies since 2020. Born and raised in Southern California, she graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in public health and minor in biological sciences. In addition to working at KRC, Ammara has also worked as an emergency department scribe and certified phlebotomy technician for over two years. She is fluent in Spanish and regularly provides translating services to patients in clinical settings. She aspires to become a physician assistant and is passionate about providing medical care to underserved communities.

 

Certified Clinical Research Coordinator

Jeannette Torres, CCRC

Jeannette is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator with over 11 years of experience in the research field. Her experience ranges from study coordination to site management across Phase II-IV including Metabolic Disease, Endocrine Disease, NASH/NAFLD and many other therapeutic areas. Current position includes hands-on approach to study coordination, staff mentorship, leadership and training. Experienced with Sponsor and FDA audits. Also has EDC certifications across multiple systems. Bilingual Spanish/English.

 

Clinical Research Coordinator

Vicki Tan

Vicki is a Clinical Research Coordinator that attained a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. She subsequently pursued medicine in Singapore and trained in Family Medicine prior to moving back to California. Besides managing patients, she has also pursued research ranging from depression screens to quality improvement projects for diabetic foot screens. She hopes to continue research on preventive medicine here at Knowledge Research Center
